Most intakes place the air filter behind the stock fans to pull heated air directly into the engine (after being heated again by the compression of the turbo). 2JR places the filter inside the cowl, where it only receives ambient cold air from beneath the windshield - in a very high pressure area (another benefit). NOTE - this intake IS LOUD. To us tho, it sounds amazing. Please refer to the "production photos" listed to the left of the final version of the intake. You will lose your sound symposer - you do not need a block off plate (you can just remove the tube). The 2JR Cowl intake does include the provision for the EVAP hardline. The was done to prevent any water from being pulled in the intake that may build up on the cowl floor. For added security you could trim the upper cowl to act as a bit of flashing to help offset any water intrusion. In testing, we didn't incur any issues during heavy rains - but you should always maintain the highest precaution against this occurring in your neck of the woods. Ford released their 2.0T EcoBoost powered Focus boasting the perfect combination of performance and practicality, however the intercooling system left something to be desired. While the piping did feature sections of aluminum, the restrictive diameter, not to mention the turbo muffler put a damper on the Focus ST?s performance potential. We?ve replaced the hot-side pipe with mandrel-bent aluminum, both ditching the muffler and also opening up the diameter to allow a 26% better flow through the hot-side. All of the degradation-prone rubber has also been swapped for wire-reinforced silicone ensuring a long lasting connection on the hot-side, but also a soother flow through the cold-side pipe. Together the Focus ST Intercooler Pipe kit grants a 21% increase in flow to and from the intercooler. The piping isn?t the only part of this kit that increases flow, the bar-and-plate construction opens up air channels within the core allowing for the charged air to pass through more freely than the stock intercooler core. This upgraded all aluminum construction also aids in heat dissipation, warding off the dreaded heat-soak under demanding driving conditions, and delivering properly cooled air through the ST?s intake manifold.     Open up the flow of the charged air in your 2013+ Ford Focus ST with the Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Piping Kit. The piping equipped on the 2.0L EcoBoost engine from the factory is riddled with bends, restrictive piping diameters, and degradation-prone materials, all of which slow the air to and from your intercooler putting a strain on the FOST?s performance. We here at Mishimoto strive to free the flow of the charged air in your sporty Focus. To start we removed the turbo muffler from the design of the hot-side stock piping, and reduced the amount of bends giving the airflow a more direct flow from the turbo to the intercooler. On top of the reduction of bends, we increased the inner diameter of the piping to 2.5 inches of high-grade aluminum, allowing for a 14% increase in volume and 26% greater flow over the stock equipment. The stock rubber connections have also been replaced with sturdy silicone couplers to ensure solid connection between piping and intercooler. The improvements don?t stop with the hot-side piping. The cold-side piping received an overhaul as well, replacing the degradation-prone rubber construction with 5 layers of durable silicone complete with heat-resistant fibers, ensuring that the cold-side airflow stays cool. For added support, the single section of piping is reinforced with steel wire ensuring that it keeps its shape under heavy load. Even with the stock liquid-liquid head exchanger, the engine can still run very hot and run the risk of overheating the engine's coolant as well. The Mishimoto engineers started with a large 19-row oil cooler and mounted it in the front of the vehicle where it receives the most airflow.
