Works, but blocks upper oil pan removal/install Review by JB

Decided to finally remove my balance shaft and install this kit while I was working on an upper oil pan seal leak. I figured while I had the upper oil pan off it would be easier to install this kit (and remove the chain tensioner) with the extra space available. Tensioner was pretty easy to remove and the kit easy to install, but I then found out that I couldn't get the upper oil pan back on with this kit installed because the upper panel sheet is larger than the balance shaft assembly, which causes it to get in the way. So I had to remove kit, install the upper oil pan, then reinstall the kit. Keep in mind you'll have to remove this kit if you need to redo your upper oil pan seal, and those bolts can only be torqued so many times before they will be out of spec. I didn't have any luck finding the PN for replacement bolts yet. If I have to remove this again I might cut back the part that gets in the way so I can avoid future issues.
In terms of functionality, revs up faster and holds the revs longer, I have a little bit of idle vibration that wasn't there before, and a bit more when AC kicks in especially at idle, but it's easy to deal with. Noise increases significantly around 3k for me, so if I want a "normal" ride I just economy shift, otherwise I let it rip and enjoy the speed and sound. I also have polyurethane motor mount stiffeners which contribute to the cabin volume. (Posted on 2/19/2020)

For starters if JWT products represent the quality of the instructions they provide I would stay away from any of their products. The instructions provided from JWT are very vague and poorly written with 6 blurry pictures that are basically useless. I was unable to complete this install after several hours of trying to figure out how to do what it is JWT was trying to explain in their instructions. Im not sure if its because I have a Japanese qr25de or if they vary between years but I was unable to remove the rotating balance assembly to be able to install the kit. The instructions state to "Lightly pry it sideways until it clears the pan lip at the rear edge" I tried for hours moving this assembly in any and every direction with no luck. It would appear that the whole upper pan would have to be removed to remove my assembly. (Posted on 7/17/2019)

This is not a particularly difficult install, but it is a pain. specially doing it laying on the ground with oil dripping in your face the whole time. And you will need tools some people may not have (U-torx and an offset 10mm wrench) But it's worth the pain, you get very noticeable gains across all rpms, and the engine seems to rev much more freely, and the rpms seem to float between shifts rather than drop when you push the clutch in. For the price its hard to beat. the added vibration is only noticeable around 2500 rpm other than that it feels the same. I highly recommend this product. On a side note my kit was missing one of the spacers and i had not discovered it until after the car was already apart. I called 2j and told them my situation, they said they would call me back and never did, so i was forced to make my own spacer. While its actually a JWT product and is not 2j's fault, i did buy it from them and i would have appreciated more help from them on possibly replacing the missing part. (Posted on 5/25/2014)
